With the words from the Holy Scripture stated “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you” as the main theme, the 20th National Assembly of Bangladesh Catholic Student’s Movement (BCSM) has successfully been completed. 55 representatives from all over Bangladesh took active part in this assembly at Savar BCR center from 4th May to 6th May. In the assembly, various issues of the constitution of BCSM were discussed and many important decisions were taken.
Chairman of Episcopal Youth Commission Most Reverend Bishop Subrata Lawrence Howlader, CSC, national Youth Coordinator and national Chaplain of BCSM Brother Ujjal Placid Pereira, CSC and Sister Brijita SMRA served as the election Commissioners in the National Assembly.
Abolishing the former executive committee, a new executive committee was formed for two years 2017-19. William Nokrek and Shoshi Sylvester Peris took the oath as President and Secretary respectively. Dipon Peter Gomes became the new organizing secretary; Maria Grace Sarkar became the new treasurer while Asish Dio took the charge of publication secretary. Emmanuel Kujur and Disha Mary Gomes were given the charge of general members of the executive committee.
It is to be noted here that, Bangladesh Catholic Student’s Movement (BCSM) which is the only Catholic student’s movement approved by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh (CBCB) has been working on the self-development of college and university students all over Bangladesh. Apart from this, BCSM is the full member of International movement for Catholic Students’’ (IMCS) which has consultative status B at UNESCO and Status II at ECOSOC (economic and Social Council of the United Nations).
